Carbondale Community Arts announces the exhibit In Memory by Tanya Gadbaw-Neitzke at the Corridor Gallery at the Carbondale Civic Center, on view July 5 – July 30. The series of paintings explore the fragility of the mind and it’s state of constant flux. By using familiar objects, patterns, and family traditions, Gadbaw-Neitzke illustrates a narrative while trying to retain memories.
Gadbaw-Neitzke also presents the exhibit A Grandmother’s Son, Portraits of Unfortunate Assumptions at Artspace 304 from July 5 – July 27.
Tanya Gadbaw-Neitzke is originally from upstate New York. Currently, she is the Painting Instructor at WKCTC’s Paducah School of Art and Design and lives in Brookport, IL. Gadbaw-Neitzke received her M.F.A. degree in painting and drawing at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale IL and her B.F.A. in painting with a minor in art history from the State University of New York Potsdam. Gadbaw-Neitzke has exhibited nationally and internationally in group and solo exhibitions including Synergy, a group show in the Museo Regionale Di Scienze Naturali in Turin Italy, group exhibit in the ~artspace191 space in Vienna Austria, group exhibitions in the Zhou B. Art Center in Chicago, IL, the Lexington Art League LAL Loudoun House Gallery in Lexington, KY, Just Add Water, an invitational exhibition at the Kirkland Art Center in Clinton NY and In Memory, a solo exhibition at the Sauk Valley Community College in Dixon, IL. Gadbaw-Neitzke has also been interviewed on both “Expressions”, a PBS production, and on 91.3 WKMS Murray State’s NPS Station podcast “Something From Nothing”.
The Corridor Gallery in the Carbondale Civic Center is located at 200 S Illinois Ave and is available for viewing Monday – Friday 8 AM – 5 PM and during all public events.
