A new exhibit of watercolors by local artist Carolyn Hollabaugh opens Friday, Sept. 8. A reception for the artist will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. that evening.
Hors d’oeuvres and cash bar will be available.
Regular gallery viewing hours are 2 to 4 p.m.Monday through Friday. Exhibit will run until September 29.
A native of Springfield, Ohio, Carolyn practiced nursing before raising a family in Dallas. She enjoyed drawing all her life and especially loved the look of watercolor. She began watercolor classes when her youngest child entered grade school.
Over the years, Carolyn has studied with noted artists, entered juried shows and taught her own classes. This is her third solo exhibit since moving to the Carbondale area in 2012.
The Varsity Gallery is downtown at 418 S. Illinois Ave. in Carbondale. Free parking is available behind The Varsity off Cherry Street, in the east federal building parking lot.
