Originally scheduled to last just three weeks, the WDBX Fall Friendship has now been extended, due to difficulties meeting our $16,000 goal. As of Thursday, September 15, pledged funds were at 32% of the goal; this is just over $5000 pledged. WDBX is your source for the best local music, news, and discussions in Southern Illinois– we’re a part of your day, every day. Community radio strengthens our relationships with one another, creates greater civic engagement, and improves the resilience of our community. In short, WDBX makes Southern Illinois a healthier and better place to live. Please help us reach our $16,000 goal now by making a donation in any amount.
WDBX needs your help today during our Fall 2016 Friendship Drive! Our goal is $16,000 and we can’t reach it without our listener-supporters. Please call in today at 618-457-3691, or give online right here! You’re also welcome to simply bring in a check, cash, or money order– make it out to WDBX– and take a little tour of the station while you’re at it. Who knows? You might even get on the mic!
During our Fall 2016 Friendship Drive, WDBX is once again teaming up with Merchop to offer a series of limited-edition (read: cool as all get-out!) t-shirts to help raise money for your favorite community radio station on the planet! This year’s featured designs include some super-hip raglan versions of our “groovy” design, and also– a station first– our new mascot, Moxie the Mockingbird!
With a nest in the tower, Moxie lives high above Washington Street, chirping out a diverse and varied call to anyone who will listen– reminds me of WDBX! Other radio may be for the birds, but Moxie has great taste. Get your t-shirt from Merchop now!
This Friday, February 12th, you can help WDBX kick off our Spring Friendship Drive at the Wallflowers’ Night Out! Music from Carbondale’s greasiest lounge belter Lonely Tugger & The Heart-Strings will go great with some Little Egypt Beer– and the cover is only $5! We’ll also have some of our brand-new tie-dye WDBX t-shirts, so you won’t want to miss those!
Wallflowers’ Night Out is at Cristaudo’s from 7-11pm, Friday, February 12th. Don’t miss it! Support Community Radio in Southern Illinois!
Everyone is pretty excited about streaming, but there’s something else on the new WDBX site that’s awesome– the WDBX Community Calendar! Need to know what to do this weekend? The WDBX Community Calendar has you covered, whether you want to find where your favorite new band is playing, catch an art opening, or get out for some theater. You’ll also find public meetings, school and church events, fundraisers, kids’ activities, and local sports!
How does WDBX stay on top of all these events? With your help! If your organization, team, church, non-profit, etc has an event happening– submit it! This isn’t like other community calendars, though. No need to hope that someone reads your e-mail and decides to add your event. Just fill in the details, and your event is automatically submitted for one-click approval. It’s super-simple, so give it a shot!
WDBX sends a huge THANK YOU to all our listener-supporters for their generous gifts during our recent WDBX Fall Membership Drive. Although fundraising took a bit longer than usual, we have all been delighted to see how Southern Illinois has once again pulled together to keep community radio healthy.
During the Drive, many supporters expressed their apologies for small donation amounts– let me assure you that every donation is worthwhile and sincerely appreciated, regardless of the amount. The important thing is the cooperative effort. We can continue to achieve great things together.
As always, thank you for your listenership and your support!
