Outdoor Photography for Beginners Program at
Giant City State Park on Sunday, September 4th from 3-6pm
MAKANDA, Ill. – Break out that camera that is “too complicated to use” or your
smartphone that you wish could take better photos and let’s unleash its potential! Local
outdoor photographer, John O’ Connell, will discuss camera settings and composition
tips that will help you better capture the beauty of Giant City State Park and southern
Illinois. Then, we will help you use your camera in the field. Please bring your charged
camera, any related equipment that you have questions about, and appropriate outdoor
trail gear/attire.
The program is free and open to the public, but registration is required. For more
information, contact the Giant City Visitor Center at 618-457-4836.
Giant City State Park is administered by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
The mission of the IDNR is to manage, conserve and protect Illinois’ natural,
recreational and cultural resources, further the public’s understanding and appreciation
of those resources, and promote the education, science and public safety of Illinois’
natural resources for present and future generations.
