At 7 p.m. on April 13, the Southern Illinois Oboe Trio will perform music by Mozart and Beethoven in Morris Library’s third-floor rotunda. The trio comprises Benyas, graduate student Aliya Zaripova, a native of Kazan, Russia, and Cameron Williams, a freshman oboe performance major from St. Louis and Carterville.
At 7 p.m. April 25, members of the symphony’s wind sections will perform wind serenades at the First United Methodist Church of Carbondale, 214 W. Main St. The program includes Mozart’s iconic “Serenade in E-flat major, K. 375” scored for wind octet and French Romantic composer Charles Gounod’s “Petite Symphonie” for nine winds. The concert opens with an arrangement of Gioachino Rossini’s overture to “The Barber of Seville.”
Admission to both performances is free, and no reservations are necessary. For more information, email Benyas at benyas@siu.edu.
