Fred Martino, featured speaker at the June Southern Illinois Learning in Retirement meeting, is Executive Director of WSIU, the PBS and NPR stations at SIU. He will focus on efforts to build civic engagement and media innovation at WSIU and explain how the community can help in these efforts.
Fred Martino joined SIU in December 2021. His previous director-level positions at other PBS/NPR stations affiliated with universities were at Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan, for 9 years followed by 13 years at New Mexico State University. He holds the doctorate in educational administration with a focus on public media from New Mexico State University.
