Chicago – JUNE 22th, 2024 – JUNE 23rd, 2024, Honey Pot Performance (HPP) proudly
announces the restaging and reimagining of their groundbreaking performance piece, Ladies Ring
Shout 2.0. Originally created and performed in 2011, this Black feminist quality-of-life project returns
with a new iteration, featuring HPP’s artistic core and an intergenerational community cast of Black
women and femmes.
Ladies Ring Shout 2.0 integrates creative writing, embodied exercises, and experiments in various
artistic mediums including still images, video, audio, and readings from works by BIPOC women
writers and poets. The performance, a 90-minute multimedia work, weaves together spoken word,
movement, and an original soundtrack to explore the lived experiences of contemporary women of
color.

Teaser Trailer: A short, professionally edited video that captures the essence of the show.
Ladies Ring Shout serves as a sounding ground and witness space, addressing the challenges and
pressures faced by women of color. By exploring gender representation, trauma, nurturing, work-life
balance, and spirituality, the performance invites women to transform and heal their perceptions of
personal power through creativity. The performance aims to broaden representational possibilities for
women of color and envisions feminist-focused social justice through artistic expression.
In addition to the performance, Ladies Ring Shout offers a workshop curriculum that encourages
women to employ wellness strategies of deep reflection, play, and experimentation. Utilizing
everyday tools such as words, laughter, secrets, images, rhythm, and movement, the project fosters
coping, healing, and thriving within female support networks.
