Southern Illinois Learning in Retirement will host their annual luncheon at Giant City Lodge on Wednesday, April 16. The meal will follow a 10:30 am presentation by photographer Fern Logan on “An Artist’s Journey: Embracing the Joy of Light and Color.”
Fern Logan is Professor Emerita of Cinema & Photography at SIUC and also taught Photography and Graphic Design at Elmhurst College and Michigan Technological University. Her work has been included at the Smithsonian, The Studio Museum in Harlem, Kenkeleba Gallery in New York, and in Black: Contemporary African American Photographers at the Brooklyn Museum. Her book, The Artist Portrait Series, which includes portraits of prominent Black artists, was published by Southern Illinois University Press. She currently serves as a board member for Artspace 304 in Carbondale.
The presentation, free and open to the public, will be held at Giant City Lodge. The luncheon for members (fried chicken or vegetable stir fry) is $23. A coffee and social hour begins at 9:30 am. To register for the luncheon, call SIU Events and Outreach at 618-536-7751 by April 11.
