Our Mission:
“WDBX provides a public forum for artistic and cultural expression and for the exchange of ideas among individuals and the community.”
Since 1996 Heterodyne Broadcasting, a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation, has been broadcasting from Carbondale Illinois at the frequency 91.1 FM under the FCC assigned call letters WDBX. With this non-commercial, educational FM license WDBX operates as a Community Radio station with almost all programming created by local DJs.
Broadcasting at 3,000 watts, WDBX reaches listeners for 25-40 miles around Carbondale with somewhere in the neighborhood of 125,000 southern Illinoisans inside our broadcast area. We reach all of Jackson and Williamson counties, as well as parts of Perry, Franklin, Johnson, Saline, and Union counties.
