Learning in Retirement: Exciting Activities at Touch of Nature

JD Tanner, Director of Touch of Nature Environmental Center in Makanda, will provide updates on the Center ‘s activities at the Southern Illinois Learning in Retirement meeting. Touch of Nature is introducing a multi-use trail system for bikers and hikers , a new recreational opportunity for this area. Mr. Tanner will report on the project’s progress and include information on how to become involved.
An avid hiker, backpacker, and mountaineer, JD Tanner has more than 15 years of experience in outdoor and environmental education. He and his wife Emily have co-authored several outdoor recreation guides.
The meeting, free and open to the public , will begin with a coffee and social hour at 9:30 a.m.
