At 8:00 a.m. on Monday morning, four candidates simultaneously filed their nominating petitions for City Council Member. A lottery for ballot placement will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. to determine ballot placement for any simultaneously filed petitions. Later filings will be placed in the order that they are received, except if two or more filings are received after 4:00 p.m. on October 28. Those candidates filing after 4:00 p.m. on October 28 will be placed in a last-place ballot position lottery.

 City Council nomination petitions that are currently filed are as follows:

 Lottery – Nathan Colombo, 229 Hunt Road

Lottery – Lee M. Fronabarger, 1140 S. Morningside Drive

Lottery – Dawn Roberts, 405 N. Allyn Street

Lottery – Brian Stanfield, 604 W. Pecan Street

5 – LaCaje Hill, 603 S. Skyline Drive

6 – Ginger Rye Sanders, 405 E. Willow Street

If thirteen (13) or more candidates file for City Council member, a Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.  The Primary Election will narrow the field to six (6) candidates for City Council member to appear on the April 1 ballot. Ballot placement for the Consolidated Election is determined by the highest number of votes received in the Primary Election.

The period for filing nominating petitions for Mayor and/or City Council extends through 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 28. Nomination packets remain available for pick up in the City Clerk’s Office, Room 165 of Carbondale City Hall, 200 South Illinois Avenue. 

Nominating Petitions are available for public review in the office of the City Clerk between the hours of 8:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m. until the end of the Objection period, November 4.
