CITY OF CARBONDALE ASKS FOR INPUT ON URBAN FLOODING FROM RESIDENTS WITH A CHANCE TO WIN SEASON PASS TO THE SUPER SPLASH PARK, SCIENCE CENTER, OR WAREHOUSE THE ULTIMATE GYM
The City of Carbondale, in partnership with the Greater Egypt Regional Planning Commission is developing a Stormwater Master Plan for the community. This plan will be used as a “decision-making document”, in order to address existing stormwater hazards while also predicting and preparing for climate-induced flooding.
In order to understand where localized urban flooding is occurring in our community, the City of Carbondale is requesting input through a quick Community Survey on Urban Flooding. If you’ve noticed urban flooding within the Carbondale community, we want to hear about it!
Those who complete our storm water survey will be entered for a chance to win:
1) A Super Splash Park Season Pass (Family or Single),
2) A Science Center Season Pass (Family), OR
3) A Membership to Warehouse the Ultimate Gym (Single).
Residents are asked to report where they have seen urban flooding, and if possible to submit photos. The survey can be taken here: City of Carbondale Community Survey | Urban Flooding
Drawings for the prizes will be held the week of December 16th, just in time for the Holidays!
For those who prefer in-person engagement, the City of Carbondale’s first Public Engagement Session on Urban Flooding will be held at the Eurma Hayes Center on October 30, 9:00 AM -12:00 PM. Information on stormwater infrastructure will be on display, with maps and stickers available for residents to mark where they are experiencing urban flooding. Folks are welcome to pop in and out of this flexible and conversation-style engagement session.

Here, we are open to new ideas, experiences and cultures, so you are encouraged to both express yourself and be yourself, in all ways. That’s Carbondale…All Ways Open… for family, fun, business, new ideas and a bright tomorrow.”
