MAKANDA, Ill. – Come learn about the illusive gray fox, a native mid-sized carnivore that is declining
across the Midwest! This talk will touch on: how to identify a gray fox, compared to more common red
foxes; what makes gray foxes so special; how the population is struggling in the Midwest; on going
research from Southern Illinois University to help combat the population decline; and what YOU can
do to help! Presented by Nadine Pershyn, a Ph.D. student at SIU studying these fascinating
creatures.
