Dr. Sandy Pensoneau-Conway will be the featured speaker at the January 15 meeting of Southern Illinois Learning in Retirement (SILIR). Dr. Pensoneau-Conway (she/her/hers) is an Associate Professor and Graduate Coordinator in the School of Communication Studies at SIUC. She is also a proud member of the southern Illinois queer community.
She began volunteer work with Rainbow Cafe in 2004, and except for a move out of the area and various breaks from participation, she has been a volunteer and board member for over 10 years. She has conducted workshops and trainings for various offices on the SIU campus, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Boys and Girls Club of Southern Illinois, and is very glad for the opportunity to speak with Learning in Retirement participants. Sandy lives in DeSoto with her spouse Chad, teenager Grayson, and cat Bobo.
The meeting, free and open to the public, will begin at 10:30 am at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 1501 W. Chautauqua, Carbondale. A coffee and social hour begins at 9:30 am.
