Miriam Link-Mullison, former director of the Jackson County Health Department will speak at the Southern Illinois Learning in Retirement (SILIR) meeting. She will discuss the potential value of local health departments, the challenges they encounter, and the public’s role in supporting public health.
Miriam Link-Mullison directed the Jackson County Health Department for 20 years, and she taught public health at SIU Carbondale for many years. She is a former president of the Illinois Public Health Association, and she continues to consult on public health workforce training and strategic planning.
The meeting, free and open to the public, will be held at Grace United Methodist Church at 220 N. Tower Road in Carbondale. Social distancing will be observed; masks are optional. There will be a brief social period (no refreshments) starting at 10 a.m.
