Golconda, IL ; Mechanical Weed Control Field Day ; Vegetable Weed Management
The Field days series will be led by Sam Oschwald Tilton, an agriculture consultant at Glacial
Drift LLC. During each full day workshop-style events, you will build your knowledge of weed
management systems, view and try a wide variety of tools, and learn from a weed management
expert and experienced farmer peers right in the field. You will leave with the strategies you
need to develop a detailed, comprehensive, and actionable plan for managing weeds on your
farm.
The first of the two events will take place on Tuesday, October 8th from 9:30am-3pm at All
Seasons with guest Blayne Harris of One-Circle Eco Farm. All Seasons produces year round
vegetables using the principles of bio-intensive farming. That is, we produce large amounts of
nutritionally dense, high quality produce on raised beds in small acreages using natural farming
practices.
The second of the two events will take place Wednesday, October 9th from 9:30am- 3pm at
The Ryder Family Farm, a first generation farming family in the heart of The Shawnee National
Forest in Southern Illinois. The farm is a family operation in the beginning stages of building our
diverse farm up from scratch.
Registration is required for each day of the event series. To register for this event please visit
www.fwsoil.org/field-days.. Meals are provided, and a refundable cost of $20 a day is required
to register.
